Hi
We'll be starting in Godalming, with the aim of going up quite a few of the big hills around the town. The aim is to have 6 good climbs before coffee and 4 afterwards, never going up or down the same path more than once. It would never go far from Godalming but not recommended for the person who says 'not another hill'! Both bike and body should be in good working order
The coffee stop is at Winkworth making it a good place to consider the options
Please bring helmet, tools, and money

Godalming to Paris or a Gran Corsa training ride. A ride to push distance into your legs. Do these all the way upto our departure date and you'll fly through France.
Another good turnout last week, perfect cycling weather and even the car drivers seemed less angry. Steady 27 Kph average, 155 Km and in the end about 1800 m of climbing.
For most this will be a recovery ride after a long ride on Saturday for others it may be the only ride of the weekend. The plan is to ride at a steady pace to build up the mileage. If you're up for it please send me an email just to let me know you plan to come.
Depending on who turns up, I guess this will be a steady 25 Km ride, no slower. I haven't planned a stop because I would like to be back for a late lunch, should be back between 2:00 and 3:00. Please bring enough to eat and drink with you.

We had a great ride on our inaugural ride last week, Grant, Catherine from spinning, Dave Dodgson, Pete and me. Steady 26 Kph average, 140 Km and in the end about 1600 m of climbing.

We'll be heading up to Winterfold, Pitch Hill, and Holmbury too. I will be cramming as much single track as possible in, in prep for wales. This will mean a LOT of climbing, if I'm feeling nice I might try and make some of them on tarmac or fireroad tracks but you never know. I'll be aiming this at 4 hours inclusive of the obligatory cheese straw, flapjack and cuppa stop at the usual mtbers haunt in peaslake but we could run over depending on the size and speed of the group. This will be a red graded ride, ideally minimal stopping to regroup and lots of technical and rooty singletrack, though no one will be left behind and everything will be rollable. I've been over there riding 7.5 of the last 24hours and the trails are running beautifully!
Please ensure your fitness and bikes are up to the job, bring normal tools, energy bars, helmet and appropriate clothing for the weather, let's hope it stays warm and sunny!
Meeting point is the Farley Heath car park, as pretty much everyone drives this should save us some climbing and give us an extra hour ride time over Bramley station start point:.

We will cycle from godalming station over to do the single track at Peaslake via the St Marthas-Newlands Corner area. I am planning the pace to be steady to fast. We will stop for tea and cakes at Peaslake stores at some point and depending on how we are feeling after that we might head over to Leith Hill to explore (find) the single track over that way.
the route will be a long one, in time and also in miles. 40ish miles
i am marking the route as a RED route
Please have gear to fend off any seasonal weather, helmet, tools, spare tubes, water, food. and a well maintained bike

The aims of this weekend are to introduce all riders to the concept of
riding two long days back-to-back including one 100-miler (160km); to
practice the G2P Buddy System, and to see in advance what issues we
might face for G2P that we can deal with prior to May.
Although we aim to ride as much as possible as a group, it's just a
fact of life that rides get split-up or frustrations build when you
have a mixed ability group riding long distances and therefore we have
measures in place in case things go wrong.
*** BUDDY SYSTEM ***
The most important of these is the Buddy System. All G2P riders should
ride in a pair as buddies, where at least one of the pair has a Garmin
or equivalent, or detailed hard-copy of the route maps. Each pair also
needs to be equipped with adequate spares and tools so that in the
event of minor mechanicals, the whole group doesn't have to be held up
but the afflicted pair can look after each other and make it to the
destination alone. If you haven't already done so, you need to
organise who's going to be your riding buddy for G2P, and if that
person is coming to Salisbury you need to buddy up with them for the
weekend too, to practice the concept. Those G2P riders who have not
yet buddied-up (as far as I know) are:
Pete
Brian
Alf
Jonathan
Matt
Grant
For riders whose buddies won't be in Salisbury, just tag onto another
pair as a third for the weekend.
*** WHEN AND WHERE ***
Meet at the Inn on the Lake, Godalming at 8:00am for 8:15 on Saturday
morning. Sunday's ride will commence same time from Salisbury YHA.
*** ROUTES (thanks to Marco!) ***
If you have a GPS device you should download the routes from
Bikeroutetoaster. Please make sure you download all 4 (even if you
think you know which route you're taking) so we can make changes on
the fly. If you and your buddy do not have a GPS device between you,
please print out a detailed map to bring along so that you can
