Hmmmm
sounds interesting
not sure how long it would take to get there from haslemere?? would you do summer lightning??
Whats nearest station? i'd fancy a ride.
Steve, it shouldn't take long (30mins) from Haslemere, if you go via Cranleigh. Let me know if you want directions and we can always start a bit later, if you want. I was thinking of just doing the stuff on Pitch and Holmbury, rather than heading over to Leith Hill.
SHR - Unfortunately, this isn't a train friendly ride as the closest station is either Gomshall (via Guildford) or Dorking. Either way it will involve a road ride from either station to the start location (point b on the link above). You'll also need some decent offroad lights as well, as we're likely to be out when it gets dark.
greg thanks for link. Will you guys be cycling at night? If you leaving 7pm then 3 hours ride and it be well dark.
SHR - Yep, some of the ride will be in darkness! Riding at night opens a whole new world of possibilities and is good fun! If you don't have any offroad lights then these ones from DealExtreme are a good set for not much money. If you don't have any lights then this ride probably isn't for you, as some of the tracks can be tricky if you've not ridden them before and a decent set of lights is a must.
hi greg
will check the work diary just to make sure i have no late appointments on Wed. but should be ok
SHR - I think you'd struggle with this one as it won't give out enough light for offroad use. Some of the trails we are doing are very technical, so you'll need a proper offroad light to make it around safely
, sorry! Plus, it may not last if you have to use it on the ride and then if you have to make your way on the road down to the station.
Roland would be up for this probably tho' don't forget tomorrow is Town Centre bike races in Guildford!
hi greg
going to have to pass on the cycle tomorrow. feeling a bit under the weather after my day at the beach yesterday, dont think my half hour swim in the ocean did me any good!!!
No worries. Did you go skinny dipping, then?
The car park where we are meeting, if you're coming, is here.
dealextreme are in usa. any good uk entry level night lights please. thanks
you must be joking me skinny dipping!!! would have cleared the beach quite quick i feel!!!
got my bike with me but still not feeling to clever, must have been all the shit and oil i swallowed that was in the water!!!
should be out greg as discussed off-line. perhaps we should make phone contact beforehand to be sure. was up there all day yesterday and is very dusty!!
those deal extreme lights are also usually for sale on ebay but i think you will pay the same in pounds. I.e. £80 = $80 or more so better to order from USA and wait.
If order from USA then how much shipping and I might get charged duty charges.
good to see you guys out last night (Greg, Glen, Neil) Might see you again tonight if there is such a thing....
i was thinking i should have braved it and come out yesterday when i was driving home from work!!! what trails did you mamage to do??
A good ride last night. We dd most of the singletrack on Pitch Hil - Christmas Pud, T-trails, that sort of thing and then stopped for a beer at the pub, thanks for the round Neil!
I might try and make it out this Wednesday, if anyone is interested?
possibly so as i can't go out on my other favourite evening this week..
I am up for a ride Wednesday evening.
Charging lights now if I can get a lift Greg. Happy to repeat last week to cement how you linked it all together. My round!
Should be okay for tomorrow, will confirm in the morning.
Unfortunately I can't make it this Wednesday. Although I was tempted to change my plans when I saw that Mark was planning to get the beers in!
Not going to make tonight as I'm not feeling too good at the moment (I won't go into details...)!
LOL - Neil, you have to take these offers when they come....
was it the dredded hangover!!!
LOL - I wish! Still not feeling too good today, either
not good, hope you feel better soon
Ta. We were meant to be driving up North for the weekend today, but just didn't feel like it, so hopefully tomorrow.
Hopefully, we can do the ride next Wednesday, if you're around Steve? I'm sure Mark's offer to buy the beers still stands!
would like to get out next week but i have now set the bike up for downhilling at cwmcarn next weekend
. downhill tyres and tubes, changed the position of the forks and shock.. so the bike dont really cycle that well at all on the flat!!!
Hi Greg,
I hope you have recovered from your illness, it could have been a reaction to the 'jabs' you have to take when venturing north of Watford Gap services?
I should be out on Wednesday but I need to fix a puncture I picked up this afternoon - my verdict is that Mountain King tyres are pants.
Ian
Fully recovered, so I hope to be out tomorrow evening, if anyone is still interested? Let me know or else I'll keep it local.
Hi Greg,
I am still keen to ride and don't mind where from. I am happy to travel up to your way for a change of scenery.
Ian
Ian, happy to go up to Peaslake - 7pm for a 7:15pm start okay? Anyone else?
7pm good for me. I presume you want to meet at the Walking Bottom car park?
Yep.
