Sunday Ride - 14th March (Peaslake)

As a change I'm planning to start this weeks Sunday ride from Peaslake. Either top of holmbury hill or in Peaslake. I'll post further details up when I've checked my own logistics and got a plan together/checked weather etc. Likely to start organising a lot more rides up this way from now on.

I'm also unable to make it as

I'm also unable to make it as I'm heading down to Brighton for the w/e. But I do like the idea of more rides around the Peaslake area, especially if we get to ride more singletrack.

Sunday Peaslake MTB Ride (Peaslake)

A change to the norm this week with a ride starting from Peaslake area.  We'll meet in Car Park No 1 which is at the top of the hill above Peaslake and called 'Holmbury Hill Car Park'. It's the one 5 mins ride from the Iron Age fort/Viewpoint on Holmbury Hill. Turn left after Peaslake stores and head up the steep hill and it's on the left (steep entry to cp) after a mile or so just before the road starts heading back down.

Obviously the point of meeting up there is to ride as much singeltrack as possible. I have no route in mind yet but we may just remain within the Hurtwood area and just loop around riding the good stuff (I should Coco, Barry Knows Best, Yoghurt Pots, Doc at the Radar Station, Reservoir Dogs T1-T5, Orange Clawhammer etc.). There has been some logging recently so not all areas are accessible.

Any level of rider can get around safely, you just need a mechanically sound bike and spares/tea stop cash. We'll almost certainly ride BKB twice (or so..) and stop at Peaslake stores for refreshments.  I guess 3 hours riding in all at a medium pace.

Hope at least some of you can make it as I know it will clash with Mothers day plans for many.

Event Date: 14 Mar 2010 (Sun), 09:00 for 09:15 rideaway

Meeting Place: Peaslake GU5, Holmbury Hill Car park (No. 1) TQ099432, Ride Leader: Mark

Ascent: Some long climbs but well rewarded., Tea Stop:  Peaslake stores - the best stop in the world

Avg Speed/Pace Style: Social, Distance: Approx 15 miles (mostly singletrack with technical sections)

Route: Singletrack fest around the Hurtwood area

Special Notes:

Any queries, please email the ride leader Mark.

No such thing as a train to

No such thing as a train to Peaslake, I'm afraid.  The nearesr station is Gomshall but that means a change at either Guildford or Dorking.  Make it easy for yourself and wait for the next Godalming or Haslemere ride......

How can I find that out?

I have just been scared by the journey times for Clapham, 1 hour... Very early start...

How do I know the scheduling of the rides?

 supperhappyrich, please

 supperhappyrich, please learn to read:

"No such thing as a train to Peaslake, I'm afraid.  The nearesr station is Gomshall but that means a change at either Guildford or Dorking.  Make it easy for yourself and wait for the next Godalming or Haslemere ride......"

you need to learn to read and to look at a map, this will make the locations and proximity to stations a lot clearer.

Lol. Jo. The off-road rota

Lol.

Jo. The off-road rota (Sunday) normally gives pre-warning of the starting points but not in this case as it is a recent decision. Going forward my rides are likely to now start from here so the rota will be accurate going forward. You may be able to get a lift from Guildford of Godalming off someone on here if you ask? I can potentially give you a lift if you can get to Godalming train station by 0830 or Guildford by 08:15 (prefer Godalming!).

train journeys

The only reasonable option is the 7:46 that gets to Guilford at 8h43 and Godalming at 8h55... Just have to leave for next weekend, again.

Thank you for the offer anyway.

Hi Mark, I will see you at

Hi Mark,

I will see you at Peaslake in the morning (mmmm flapjack).

By any chance do you (or any one else attending tomorrow) have a 'cone' spanner for a shimino hub as I don't have anything suitable and they desperatly need tightening up?

Cheers

Ian

Mark, I thought about driving

Mark, I thought about driving over but will cycle instead.  I'm going to leave at 8 and see if I make it in time, I intend to arrive at 9.15.  If I miss you then I'll go to the coffee stop for 11 and maybe see you there, or around on the trails
