Sunday 7th March MTB ride

Hi

I have just used the new 'direct to email' way of posting rides for next Sunday.  I hope that all of you MTBers have received it.

Please let me know if you haven't

Nope....

Not received it here, Nick.  I've checked my spam folder and only found one from VCGH regarding spinning classes.  I haven't checked my profile but I'm guessing I should be receiving MTB emails as well!

Wednesday evening night ride 7.30 Crown Court car park Godalming

Can't work this new-fangled calendar thingy so posting here if anybody fancies a night ride while there is a window of good weather and a nearly full moon before the season starts in earnest on 1 April.  Meet usual time usual place unless flinging down with rain sleet or snow by then.

Jules, if you could lead this

Jules, if you could lead this Sunday then I'll do the current space in the rota which is the 21st March.  How does that sound?

edit the post

Nick/Jules, you can edit the event that Nick has posted in the calendar rather than deleting and adding a new one.  Just click on the event via the calendar and then click the edit tab and edit away!

I was going to say that: it

I was going to say that: it doesn't look as though you can delete a calender event anyway, just change it as Greg says, so Jules just do that.

Hi - if necessary i can

Hi - if necessary i can delete postings, not available to anybody else, emails are not sent at straight away; there is a background process that runs roughly on the hour; checking the log there was a batch of 64 emails sent out about an hour or so after nick sent a test email. If people didnt get the MTB email let me know your email address and I'll look into whats happening.

thanks dave

Dave, if you could delete my ride from the calender then that would save any confusion

Jules, please go ahead and post your ride.  So long as it starts from Godalming train station at 9am on Sunday then any people who have scheduled that in will not be disappointed.

Many thanks

I'm lost, what ride is happening this sunday 7th?

well...

Nick originally posted a ride but didn't think the email notification had worked.  Julie then said that she thought she was down to lead this ride, even though she was meant to do last Sundays ride and is down to do a ride on the 28th March.  Nick said, okay, you can do this ride and he'll do the ride on the 21st, as no one had put their name forward to do that one.  In the mean time, the email notification had worked and everyone thought that Nick was doing the ride this Sunday (you still with me?!).  Anyway,  to muddy the waters further, I went and edited the ride details posted in the club calendar (have you seen it?) and put Jules down to be the ride leader (I wanted to see if I could edit a ride already posted).  It worked.  Nick then asked DaveN to delete the ride in the calendar and Julie would post a new one.  Unfortunately, because of my meddling, DaveN thought that Julie had edited the post so didn't delete it, so it still has the originally wording that Nick put in, but with Julie as the ride leader.  Deep breath....I think Julie is doing the ride on Sunday?

what a difference a week makes

Jut got back from a ride and wow, what a difference a week makes!  Complete contrast to last Saturdays ride; hardly had to clean me or my bike when I got back home.  I did some of the route Nick mentions for this ride (if he does it!), so it won't be a mud-fest if you're planning on going a long.  Unfortunately, I won't be able to make the ride as we have visitors, so enjoy yourselves.

Someone is going to pay for

Someone is going to pay for this dearly.

I was so looking forward to this ride and now trains are running to Godalming from waterloo from 7.37 and not from 7.55 as usual which lives me with not enough time to get there from Heather Green! I wish the trains wold run regular times like Germany and be less messed up each week having different time.

Hi, despite all of the confusion the ride went ahead and 7 of us turned up.  Beautiful day although it did get a bit cold towards the end.  Unfortunately we had a couple of quite serious mechanical issues so hopefully things are all sorted out for Neil and Jules.

Sorry for all that confusion regarding who was going to do what this weekend, but the direct to email facility is not as instantaneous as I imagined it would be.

Nick, we enjoyed the ride which is all that matters and I find the odd mechanical breakdown helps me get my breath back. Thanks
