Our two teams competing at the Duo Normand on 30th September came back with good results. Veteran men's team Rob Marcus and Pete Phipps had their first attempt at the undulating Normandy 2-up event and finished a respectable 14th out of 37 teams in category, with a time of 1:27:29. Their category was won for the second year running by British Data Team Allstars Steve Whitewick and Kevin Tye in an impressive 1:14:30 - a new category record. Rob talks a bit more about the experience on his blog here.
Steve Williamson and Lara Taylor, winners of last year's mixed category, were up against stiff competition in the form of British olympic medalist Wendy Houvenaghel and French national TT champion Edwige Pitel. The latter, with her partner Gregory Cassini, went on to demolish by 51 seconds the category record that had been set by many-times world champion Jeannie Longo in 2005.
Steve and Lara came 6th in a category of 26 with a time of 1:23:19, within a minute of the other 'mortal' teams, but a long way off Pitel and Cassini's record-breaking 1:14:40.
