June Club TT

posted 25 Jun 2018, 12:50 by Lara Taylor   [ updated 26 Jun 2018, 05:27 ]
Conditions were absolutely ideal for the June edition of our Club 10 sporting course TT on the G10/45 on Saturday morning; warm sunshine, dry roads and not much breeze to complain about. The roads, as usual, were appalling, although some of the potholes had been selectively fixed since the May TT.

There was a decent turnout of 20 riders, and it was especially great to see 3 juniors (ranging from 13 to 17 years of age), and 4 women racing.

Maximum kudos to Will Ranoe again, who despite finding time to wave to the camera, detour around me as I took the outside line on the descent out of Plaistow, and having to stop - yes stop! - for a lorry at the top of Skiff Lane, still managed to pull a personal best of 23:04 out of his Morvelo Basso racing hat, winning the Road Bike category by a clear 2:43. Awesome stuff. 2nd rider home was 15-year old Luke van Oudtshoorn in an excellent 25:47.

The TT category was won by David Walters in 24:12 (another PB), followed by Danny Baker from Morvelo Basso in 24:44.

The 4 women were split equally across the TT and road bike categories, with Laura Senior winning the road bike category in 30:07 on her first ever TT, and Lara first women's TT bike home in 27:16.

Special mention must also go to the Team Beeston 2-up for a BLISTERING 27:43.

Thanks as usual to all the volunteers who sacrifice their Saturday morning lie-ins to come and help run the event. This month they were:

Start timekeeper: Brian Waters
Push-offer: Matt Hurst
Marshals: Chris Eaton, Frank Edge, Nick Davison, Ali Siddall, Jim Middleton, Sheena Rogers
Finish timekeeper: Dave Triska
Results: Marco
HQ tea and cake: Judy Goodall

And thanks to both Judy for her delicious baking, and to Ali Walters for sharing her birthday cake with us all!

Full results are here. (Use the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet to change dates)
A great set of event photos taken by Tim Rogers is here.
Next event is 14th July which is the morning of VCGHfest. We hope to see you at both events!
