In stark contrast to last year's attempt to complete LEJOG in one of the coldest and windiest April's on record, I am planning another attempt this June. The plan is slightly different this time, there will be a support team, warming sun on our backs and a gentle breeze ever nudging us towards our destination - John O'Groats.
Before you get too carried away and say yes sign me up for some of that there are a few points to consider. Whilst a Club Expedition it will require you to get involved with the organising some of the logistics for yourself, such as booking your own accommodation and travel to and from the start and end points. I will happily provide you with Garmin routes and suggested accommodation. The advantage here being that if you not up for the whole adventure you can pick off a few of the stages. the support team's car will be able to offer space for transporting your clothes between the start and finish of each stage (subject to numbers interested).
Oh, did I mention training? don't underestimate this ride you will need to be ready and able to ride more than seven hours a day for ten consecutive days to complete the route end to end, and should the God's be against us you could find yourself spending even longer hours on the bike. For those interested there is a thought to arrange a long weekend training ride in May to acclimatise to the long distance, but this alone is unlikely be enough!
